Licensed Professional Counselor

About the Role

Fundamental Therapy Group is seeking fully licensed Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs) to provide psychotherapy through secure telehealth. This is a flexible 1099 independent-contractor opportunity for clinicians who want the autonomy of private-practice-style work while being part of a collaborative and growing behavioral health practice.

COMPENSATION

Earn up to $100 per completed eligible session. Exact compensation varies by service type, payer, and applicable self-pay category and will be reviewed before services are provided.

SCHEDULE

Clinicians determine the appointment availability they choose to offer. Daytime, evening, and weekend availability may be offered based on clinician preference and client demand. There is no guaranteed minimum caseload, referral volume, session count, or income.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Provide individual psychotherapy through secure telehealth.

• Provide couples, family, or group therapy when appropriately trained, competent, and authorized.

• Conduct comprehensive clinical intake assessments.

• Assess presenting concerns, symptoms, psychosocial history, functioning, strengths, risks, and treatment needs.

• Establish clinically appropriate diagnoses when required and supported.

• Develop and maintain individualized treatment plans.

• Provide evidence-based and clinically appropriate therapeutic interventions within your scope of competence.

• Monitor client progress and modify treatment approaches when appropriate.

• Maintain accurate and timely progress notes, treatment plans, assessments, and other required clinical documentation.

• Protect client confidentiality and comply with applicable privacy, ethical, legal, and professional requirements.

• Confirm appropriate telehealth location and maintain emergency procedures for virtual care.

• Conduct risk assessments and safety planning when clinically indicated.

• Make appropriate referrals when a client requires services outside your scope of competence or a higher level of care.

• Coordinate care with other authorized professionals when clinically appropriate.

• Maintain professional boundaries and support client autonomy.

• Appropriately transition or discharge clients when continued treatment no longer serves their needs or interests.

• Maintain all required licensure, credentialing, malpractice coverage, continuing education, and professional requirements.

COLLABORATION AND PRACTICE DEVELOPMENT

Fundamental Therapy Group is intentionally building a collaborative, learning-focused practice. Clinicians will participate in at least one recurring one-hour practice-development session each week.

The recurring time will be discussed during the interview and onboarding process and mutually agreed upon between the clinician and the practice. Sessions may include clinical consultation, peer discussion, research review, quality improvement, practice development, new ideas, policy updates, or team collaboration.

There may occasionally be an additional training or meeting. Fundamental will provide reasonable advance notice whenever possible and make a good-faith effort to schedule these fairly. Sessions necessary for legal, ethical, payer, credentialing, privacy, safety, or practice-wide compliance requirements may be required.

THE CLINICIAN WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We want clinicians who take ownership of their work, care deeply about quality, remain intellectually curious, and want to collaborate with other strong professionals.

We want therapists who help clients develop autonomy rather than positioning themselves as the person with all the answers. We want clinicians who can celebrate a successful discharge rather than viewing it as lost revenue.

Most importantly, we want people who see Fundamental Therapy Group as something worth helping to build, not simply a place to complete sessions and collect a check.

Clinicians maintain independent professional judgment regarding diagnosis, treatment, clinical decision-making, and the availability they choose to offer. Clinicians may also maintain professional work outside Fundamental Therapy Group, subject to applicable ethical, confidentiality, payer, and contractual obligations.

Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted Georgia Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) license in good standing.

  • Independently licensed and able to practice without required clinical supervision.

  • Master's degree or higher in counseling or a related field meeting Georgia LPC requirements.

  • Completion of Georgia-required telemental health education before beginning telehealth services.

  • Active Type 1 NPI, or ability to obtain one before credentialing.

  • Active CAQH/DataSpring profile, or ability to establish and maintain one.

  • Active professional liability/malpractice insurance meeting applicable credentialing requirements.

  • Ability to successfully complete insurance and credentialing requirements.

  • Strong knowledge of clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, documentation, ethics, confidentiality, mandated reporting, and risk management.

  • Ability to recognize and appropriately respond to behavioral health emergencies and determine when a higher level of care is needed.

  • Reliable high-speed internet, secure technology, and a private professional environment suitable for telehealth.

  • Commitment to ethical, inclusive, evidence-informed, and client-centered care.

  • Comfortable practicing independently while seeking consultation when clinically appropriate.

  • Willingness to collaborate, contribute ideas, continue learning, and help build Fundamental Therapy Group.

  • Additional state licenses.

  • Experience with evidence-based therapeutic approaches.

About the Company

Fundamental Therapy Group is a virtual behavioral health practice being built around one standard: exceptional quality at every point. That means quality for our clients, quality for our clinicians and team members, quality in how we operate, and quality in what we build together.

We are not creating a volume-first practice where therapists are treated like workhorses or clients are viewed as transactions. We believe the fundamentals are essential: listen carefully, assess thoughtfully, communicate clearly, document accurately, act ethically, continue learning, and treat people with dignity.

We are looking for clinicians who want to help create something, not simply occupy a position. Fundamental is intended to be a learning and innovative organization where research, collaboration, new ideas, thoughtful discussion, quality improvement, and professional growth are part of the culture.

We are also not looking for advice givers who simply tell clients what to do. We want clinicians who can lead without controlling, guide without forcing, challenge without overpowering, and help clients develop the insight, skills, confidence, and autonomy to move toward goals that belong to them.

Success is not measured by how long we can keep someone in therapy. We want clients to improve, become stronger, and successfully discharge when therapy is no longer needed or beneficial. When continued therapy remains meaningful, clinically appropriate, and client-directed, we also support it as part of a healthy routine because the client continues to receive genuine value from the relationship.

If you join Fundamental Therapy Group, you are being invited to help us build and nurture something exceptional.
